Louisiana No Man's Land Historical Seminar Date: August 15, 2026 Time: 10 Am - 11 AM Location: Meeting Room, Main Library Join us for an engaging look at the history of Louisiana's Neutral Strip, also known as "No Man's Land." This disputed territory between the United States and Spain once covered parts of present-day Vernon and Sabine Parishes and became a rugged frontier where settlers, traders, and outlaws lived beyond formal government control. Participants will learn how the Neutral Ground Agreement of 1806 created this unusual region and how it eventually became part of Louisiana. We'll also explore how the area's independent spirit continues to influence local traditions, folklore, and communities today. Using Maps, archival materials, and storytelling, we'll bring to life the people and events that helped shape Louisiana's western frontier.
